Time & Location

May 16, 2026, 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Edward O. Gourdin Veterans Memorial Park, 2405 Washington St, Roxbury, MA 02119, USA

About the event

The theme "WE WERE THERE" reflects that African Americans have participated in every war since this country's founding at great sacrifice and often at great economic and physical peril, if not death, upon their return home. Yet they persisted and thrived, becoming leaders across numerous sectors of society and in their communities.

Honor them with a parade from Eliot Sq. to Gourdin Memorial Park beginning at 11:30am. Then attend a keynote speech by Dr. Imari Parris Jeffries, Iraq War veteran and CEO of Embrace Boston.

Co-sponsors include Roxbury Main Streets, Roxbury Cultural District, Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts, and Everyone 250.
